1939

Dr. Lukenbill is born in Mount Sylvan, Texas to Lee Roy Clayton Lukenbill and Tommie Lee McCorkle.

1961

Dr. Lukenbill receives a Bachelor of Science in education from the University of North Texas.

1963

Dr. Lukenbill receives a Master of Library Science from the University of Oklahoma and becomes a reference librarian at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.

1964

Dr. Lukenbill becomes an instructor at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.

1968

Dr. Lukenbill marries Shirley Ann Herbert.

1973

Dr. Lukenbill receives a Doctor of Philosophy from Indiana University and becomes an assistant professor at the University of Maryland.

1976

Dr. Lukenbill becomes an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin.

1987

Dr. Lukenbill joins the board of directors of MCC Austin.

1988

Dr. Lukenbill authors “Youth Literature: An Interdisciplinary, Annotated Guide to North American Dissertation Research, 1930-1985.”

1993

Dr. Lukenbill receives the Library Education for At-Risk Youth Award from the U.S. Department of Education.

1994

Dr. Lukenbill authors “AIDS-HIV Information Services and Programs in Libraries.”

1994

Dr. Lukenbill becomes an archivist consultant for MCC Austin.

1996

Dr. Lukenbill is promoted to full professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
