1933

Dr. King is born in Memphis, Tennessee to Ordie Herbert and Hazel King.

1957

Dr. King receives a Bachelor of Science from Memphis State University.

1959

Dr. King receives a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee.

1960

Dr. King becomes a U.S. Public Health Service Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tennessee.

1962

Dr. King becomes a resident in oral pathology at the City of Memphis Hospitals with the University of Tennessee.

1963

Dr. King becomes a research associate in the Department of Pathology at the University of Tennessee.

1965

Dr. King receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee, where he also becomes an assistant professor of pathology.

1966

Dr. King becomes an assistant professor of pathology at the Northwestern University.

1967

Dr. King becomes an associate professor of oral pathology and chairman of the Department of Dentistry at St. Louis University.

1969

Dr. King is promoted to full professor at St. Louis University.

1969

Dr. King serves as acting chairman and visiting associate professor of oral pathology at Washington University.

1970

Dr. King becomes a professor of oral pathology at the School of Dentistry of West Virginia University.

1972

Dr. King receives the Outstanding Teacher Award from West Virginia University.

1972

Dr. King joins the board of directors of the West Virginia Division of the American Cancer Society.

1974

Dr. King becomes a professor of pathology at the School of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University.

1979

Dr. King becomes a clinical professor of pathology at the School of Dental Medicine at Washington University.

1979

Dr. King is appointed chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Specialties in the School of Dental Medicine at Southern Illinois University.
