1935

Dr. Wanebo is born in Denver, Colorado to Clifford P. and JoAnn Wanebo.

1957

Dr. Wanebo receives a Bachelor of Science from Regis College.

1961

Dr. Wanebo receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Colorado and begins an internship in the Cornell Medical Division of Bellevue Hospital.

1962

Dr. Wanebo begins a residency in the Cornell Medical Division of Bellevue Hospital.

1963

Dr. Wanebo becomes a surgical resident at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center.

1964

Dr. Wanebo marries Clair Anne Wanebo.

1965

Dr. Wanebo becomes a Fellow in Tumor Immunology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

1969

Dr. Wanebo joins the U.S. Army as a Major.

1971

Dr. Wanebo becomes a senior surgical fellow at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

1973

Dr. Wanebo becomes a clinical assistant and attending surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

1973

Dr. Wanebo becomes a surgery instructor at Weill Cornell Medicine of Cornell University.

1974

Dr. Wanebo becomes an assistant attending surgeon at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

1974

Dr. Wanebo receives the Junior Faculty Clinical Fellowship Award from the American Cancer Society.

1975

Dr. Wanebo is promoted to assistant professor of surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine.

1977

Dr. Wanebo becomes an associate scientist and a consultant in clinical immunology service at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

1977

Dr. Wanebo becomes a professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Virginia.

1987

Dr. Wanebo becomes professor of surgery and director of surgical oncology at Brown University.

1998

Dr. Wanebo becomes a professor of surgery at Boston University Medical School.

2007

Dr. Wanebo is appointed director of surgical oncology at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

2017

Dr. Wanebo is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
