Dr. King receives a Bachelor of Science from Memphis State University.

Dr. King receives a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee.
1960
Dr. King becomes a U.S. Public Health Service Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Tennessee.
1962
Dr. King becomes a resident in oral pathology at the City of Memphis Hospitals with the University of Tennessee.
1963
Dr. King becomes a research associate in the Department of Pathology at the University of Tennessee.
1965
Dr. King receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Tennessee, where he also becomes an assistant professor of pathology.

Dr. King becomes an assistant professor of pathology at the Northwestern University.
1967
Dr. King becomes an associate professor of oral pathology and chairman of the Department of Dentistry at St. Louis University.

Dr. King is promoted to full professor at St. Louis University.

Dr. King serves as acting chairman and visiting associate professor of oral pathology at Washington University.

Dr. King becomes a professor of oral pathology at the School of Dentistry of West Virginia University.

Dr. King receives the Outstanding Teacher Award from West Virginia University.
