1934

Dr. Pelton is born in Charlotte, North Carolina to William Andrew and Helen Cook Miller.

1956

Dr. Pelton receives a Bachelor of Science from the University of Miami.

1957

Dr. Pelton receives a Master of Science from Florida State University.

1957

Dr. Pelton becomes a teacher for Miami Dade Public School in Miami, Florida.

1970

Dr. Pelton becomes an art instructor at the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College.

1971

Dr. Pelton is appointed chairman of the Art Department at the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College.

1979

Dr. Pelton receives a Doctor of Education in college administration from Nova Southeastern University.

1979

Dr. Pelton becomes a rank professor and associate dean of humanities at the Kendall Campus of Miami Dade College.

1982

Dr. Pelton holds a one-woman fiber show at Armstrong State College (now Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus) in Savannah, Georgia.

1987

Dr. Pelton founds and serves as vice provost of New World School of the Arts.

1989

Dr. Pelton receives the Florida Art Educator of the Year Award from the Florida Art Education Association, Inc.

1996

Dr. Pelton retires from art education.

2002

Dr. Pelton holds a one-woman show at the Kendall Campus Art Gallery at Miami Dade College.

2006

Dr. Pelton holds a two-person show in watercolor in Franklin, North Carolina.

2006

Dr. Pelton holds a one-person exhibition at the Deering Estate at Cutler.

2007

Dr. Pelton displays at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., receiving first in watercolor and Best in Show.

2011

Dr. Pelton earns a signature membership to the Florida Watercolor Society.

2011

Dr. Pelton receives the Dr. Clem Pennington Lifetime Achievement Award from the Miami-Dade Art Education Association.
