Born to Carl and Becky Prather in N. Kansas City, MO.

1987

Earns a Bachelor of Arts in biology and chemistry, with honors, from Drury College.

1991

Obtains a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine.

1991

Completes an internship in family medicine at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, CO by 1992.

1992

Completes a physical medicine and rehab. residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago by 1995 and is an attending physician until 1998.

1998

Is a clinical instructor in physical medicine and rehab. at the Washington University (WU) School of Medicine through 2001.

1998

Is an attending physician at the WU School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital until 2020.

2001

Is listed in American Top Doctors and Best Doctors in America through 2020.

2001

Teaches an assistant professor, associate professor and chief of the physical medicine and rehab. section at WU through 2013.

2005

Receives the Richard and Hinda Rosenthal Lectureship Award from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

2006

Receives the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery at the WU School of Medicine through 2019.

Is president of the Psychiatric Association of Spine Sports and Occupational Medicine.

Serves as senior editor for PM&R Journal for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and continues in the role.

Receives the Scott Nadler PASSOR Musculoskeletal Research Award from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Receives the WU School of Medicine Richard W. Brand Award and is named Clinical Physician Teacher of the Year in 2012.

2013

Is a professor and vice-chair in the Neurology and Orthopaedic Surgery Depts. and the division chief of physical medicine and rehab. at WU until 2020.

2015

Is an attending physician at the St. Louis Children’s Hospital until 2020.

2017

Receives the PASSOR Legacy Award from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

2018

Receives the PM&R Best Original Research Award from the American Foundation of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

2020

Founds the Washington University Living Well Center with the Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital.
