A Timeline of Professional Milestones

1947

Ms. Gordon is born in Chicago, Illinois to Ed and Mozelle Hall.

1968

Ms. Gordon receives a diploma from Grady Memorial Hospital (now Grady Health), where she becomes a pediatrics charge nurse.

1969

Ms. Gordon completes coursework at Georgia State University and marries Starling Alexander Gordon.

1971

Ms. Gordon becomes a staff nurse in pediatrics at the Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and a charge nurse at a pediatrician’s office in Decatur, Georgia.

1972

Ms. Gordon becomes a staff nurse at the Atlanta VA Medical Center.

1976

Ms. Gordon receives a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and becomes a charge nurse in the Army Nurse Corps at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Fort Gordon, Georgia.

1979

Ms. Gordon is named among the Outstanding Young Women in America.

1983

Ms. Gordon receives a master’s degree in health sciences from Armstrong State College (now Georgia Southern University-Armstrong Campus).

1983

Ms. Gordon becomes a nurse in the primary care medical ICU at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital, STVHCS in San Antonio, Texas.

1984

Ms. Gordon becomes an obstetrical staff nurse at Noble Army Hospital in Fort McClellan, Alabama and an instructor in clinical nursing in the Department of Nursing at Jacksonville State University.

1985

Ms. Gordon serves as a health education consultant for Etowah County Clinics in Gadsden, Alabama.

1986

Ms. Gordon is appointed chairman of the Fort McClellan chapter of the American National Red Cross.

1987

Ms. Gordon becomes an obstetrical clinical nurse at Gorgas Army Hospital in Panama City, Panama.

1989

Ms. Gordon becomes an oncology charge nurse at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

1990

Ms. Gordon becomes an obstetrical charge nurse at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

1991

Ms. Gordon becomes a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

1996

Ms. Gordon becomes a labor and delivery nurse at the Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center (now Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center) at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.

2000

Ms. Gordon becomes a health-nurse educator in the Health Promotion at the Brooke Army Medical Center.

2005

Ms. Gordon is promoted to head nurse of allergy and immunology service at the Brooke Army Medical Center.

2017

Ms. Gordon is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
