Born to Nicholas Anthony Soter and Mildred Elizabeth Soter in Niagara Falls, NY.

1961

Earns a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Christian University.

1965

Obtains a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center; Is an intern at Boston City Hospital until 1966.

1966

Is a resident and assistant instructor in dermatology at the Baylor College of Medicine Affiliated Hospitals until 1968.

1968

Is an assistant resident in dermatology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and a teaching fellow at Harvard Medical School until 1969.

Serves in the U.S. Army as a captain on the Ryukyu Islands in Japan and as a major at Fort Sam in Texas through 1971.
