1978

Dr. Curley receives a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry from The University of New Mexico.

1982

Dr. Curley receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

1982

Dr. Curley becomes a clinical resident in surgery at the University of New Mexico Hospitals.

1988

Dr. Curley becomes a fellow in surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

1988

Dr. Curley becomes a professor of surgical oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

1990

Dr. Curley joins the American Society of Surgical Oncology.

1999

Dr. Curley writes a paper which, for the next three years, is the most surgically cited paper in the world.

2001

Dr. Curley develops two FDA-approved devices for invasive radio-frequency ablation needles to treat unresectable liver cancers.

2005

For 12 years, Dr. Curley is listed in America’s Top Doctors for Cancer Database.

2006

Dr. Curley becomes Charles B. Barker Endowed Chair in Surgery in the Division of Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

2006

Dr. Curley becomes an adjunct professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science at Rice University.

2012

Dr. Curley is named to Top One Percent of Physicians by U.S. News and World Report.

2014

Dr. Curley becomes a professor and chief of surgical oncology at Baylor College of Medicine.

2015

Dr. Curley becomes oncology service line medical director at CHI St. Luke’s Health-Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center.

2018

Dr. Curley becomes director of the CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Oncology Institute.

2018

Dr. Curley authors “In My Hands: Compelling Stories from a Surgeon and His Patients Fighting Cancer.”
