1977

Earns a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry, magna cum laude, from Harvard University.

1981

Obtains a Doctor of Medicine from the Yale School of Medicine; Is a general surgical resident at the University of Hawaii until 1986.

1986

Is a surgical oncology fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City until 1988.

1986

Is a co-founder and lifetime director of Comprehensive Home Services Hawaii, now CareResource Hawaii.

1988

Works in private practice in surgical oncology in Honolulu, HI until 2002.

1991

Serves the American College of Surgeons on the board of governors and various committees through 2002.

1993

Is associate chief of surgery, chief of surgery and medical director at Queen’s Medical/Cancer Institute in Honolulu, HI through 2002.
