A Timeline of Professional Milestones

1972

Ms. Nix attends classes at the Art Students League with Vaclav Vytacil.

1976

Ms. Nix attends the first class at the New School for Social Research with Anthony Toney.

1977

Ms. Nix holds her first exhibition of 32 works at the Kolodner Gallery in New York, New York.

1981

Ms. Nix establishes her first studio in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of New York City and receives her first major museum acquisition by the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American Art.

1983

Ms. Nix receives a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.

1984

Ms. Nix holds a solo exhibition at Baumgartner Gallery in Washington, D.C.

1986

Ms. Nix holds solo exhibits at the Staten Island Museum in New York City and at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts in San Angelo, Texas.

1987

Ms. Nix holds a solo exhibition at Andre Zarre Gallery in New York City.

1990

Ms. Nix holds a solo exhibition at Hurlbutt Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut.

1992

Ms. Nix is elected into the National Academy of Design and begins living and working part-time in Château Gontier, France.

1994

Ms. Nix receives the Gold Medal from the Fédération Internationale Culturelle Féminine in Paris, France. She also holds solo exhibits at Galarie Donguy in Paris, France and at Dillon Gallery and Bustamante Gallery in New York City.

1999

Ms. Nix exhibits in group shows at Dillon Gallery in New York City, the Merrill Chase Embassy in Chicago, Illinois, and at the U.S. Embassies in Rome, Slovenia, and Windhoek, Namibia.

2000

Ms. Nix exhibits in group shows at the National Academy Museum in New York City, the Hilligoss Galleries in Chicago, Evelyn Siegel Gallery in Fort Worth, Texas, and Gallery d’Orsay in Boston, Massachusetts.

2002

Ms. Nix designs sets and costumes for Stravinsky’s ballets, “Petrushka Pulcinella,” and “Jeu de Cartes.”

2004

Ms. Nix exhibits at the Totem Altar in Saint Peter’s Church in New York City.

2005

Ms. Nix exhibits at the Gallerie Mary Claude Goinnard in Paris, France and at The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City.

2009

Ms. Nix exhibits “Patricia Nix: A Retrospective” at the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Contemporary Arts in Lubbock, Texas.

2012

Ms. Nix moves her New York studio to Palm Beach, Florida.

2013

Ms. Nix exhibits at the National Academy Museum in New York City.

2017

Ms. Nix exhibits “American Baroque” at the Boca Raton Museum of Art and she is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
