Marries James Wallace Landon.

Earns a Bachelor of Arts in Far Eastern history from the University of Maryland.

1974

Earns a Master of Education in special education from Bowie State University.

1974

Becomes a special education resource teacher and the special education department chair at Point Pleasant Elementary School in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

1978

Earns a Master of Science in reading from Johns Hopkins University.

1980

Becomes a teacher for emotionally disturbed students at ‘Ilima Intermediate School in Ewa Beach, Hawai’i.

1981

Serves as the superintendent of Protestant Sunday Schools at the Pearl Harbor, Naval Station Chapel.

1984

Becomes a teacher for emotionally disturbed students within the Stockton Unified School District.
