Receives a degree in physical science aid from the U.S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory.

1954

Works as a physical science aid U.S. Naval Ordinance Laboratory.

1958

Receives a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

1959

Receives a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology.

1960

Becomes head of the Optical Systems Department at Aero Geo Astro Corporation in Alexandria, Virginia.

1963

Marries Barbara Ann Flaherty.

1964

Becomes head of the Laser Department at Gulf General Atomic in San Diego, California.

1965

Receives a Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Quantum Physics from the California Institute of Technology.

1969

Joins the research staff of the Institute for Defense Analyses in Arlington, Virginia.
