1944

Serves in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers until 1946.

1945

Receives a diploma in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.

1947

Earns a Bachelor of Science in aeronautical engineering from New York University and works as a graduate assistant until 1949.

1949

Achieves a Master of Science in aeronautical engineering from New York University.

1949

Is an instructor, assistant and assoc. prof. in aeronautical & astronautical engineering at the Univ. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) until 1957.

1951

Obtains a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical and applied mathematics from the University of Illinois.

1953

Serves as national secretary-treasurer of Sigma Gamma Tau until 1964.

1974

Is acting head of the Department of Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign until 1976.

1976

Is head of Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign until 1985.

1989

Becomes a founding member of the Challenger Center for Space Science Education.

1989

Is assistant dean of the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign until 1990.

1990

Is named professor emeritus of aerospace engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, continuing in the role.

1992

Serves as the Great Lakes regional coordinator of Sigma Gamma Tau, continuing in the role.

1997

Is senior academic lead structural/solid mechanics at UIUC’s National Center for Super Computing, continuing in the role.

1998

Becomes a member of the Society of Experimental Mechanics.

2005

Is elected a fellow of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

2010

Is elected a fellow of the American Society for Composites.
