Dr. Ibbott is born in London, England to Frank Alfred and Gladys Josephine Ibbott.

1957

Dr. Ibbott immigrates to the United States.

1974

Dr. Ibbott begins his career as a senior instructor and medical physicist at the University of Colorado of Health Sciences Center.

1979

Dr. Ibbott receives a Bachelor of Arts in physics from University of Colorado.

1981

Dr. Ibbott receives a Master of Science in medical physics from the University of Colorado of Health Sciences Center.

1982

Dr. Ibbott serves as the associate editor of the Medical Physics Journal.

1984

Dr. Ibbott becomes certified in therapeutics radiological physics through the American Board of Radiology.

1989

Dr. Ibbott authors “Performance Evaluation of Hyperthermia Equipment.”

1990

Dr. Ibbott serves as a lecturer and medical physicist at Yale-New Haven Hospital with Yale New Haven Health.

1993

Dr. Ibbott receives a Doctor of Philosophy in radiation biology from Colorado State University and becomes certified in diagnostic and medical nuclear physics through the American Board of Radiology.

1994

Dr. Ibbott becomes an associate professor and director of physics at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

2001

Dr. Ibbott becomes the chief of outreach physics, director, and a professor at the Radiological Physics Center at The University of Texas MD Andersen Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

2002

Dr. Ibbott serves as president of the Council on Ionizing Radiation Measurements and Standards (CIRMS).

2003

Dr. Ibbott receives the Distinguished Service Award from the American Board of Radiology.

2004

Dr. Ibbott becomes a member of the GSBS Medical Physics Steering Committee.

2005

Dr. Ibbott serves as the senior associate editor of the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.

2007

Dr. Ibbott serves as a trustee of the American Board of Radiology.

2010

Dr. Ibbott is appointed chairman of the Department of Radiation Physics at the University of Texas MD Andersen Cancer Center.

2014

Dr. Ibbott is appointed vice-chair of the Commission on Medical Physics at the American College Radiology.

2017

Dr. Ibbott becomes a professor at The University of Texas MD Andersen Cancer Center.
