Dr. Norman receives a Bachelor of Science in physics from the Missouri School of Mines Metallurgy (now Missouri University of Science and Technology).

Dr. Norman serves in the U.S. Army, eventually earning the rank of colonel.

Dr. Norman receives a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Dr. Norman becomes a teacher and research assistant at Texas A&M University.

Dr. Norman receives a Master of Science in biochemistry from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Norman marries Claudia Ruth Netherton Norman.
