1942

Dr. White is born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Asher Abbott White and Margaret McQuestin White.

1964

Dr. White receives a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota.

1967

Dr. White receives a Master of Arts from the University Minnesota and becomes an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

1969

Dr. White receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota.

1971

Dr. White becomes deputy director of the Language Attitudes Research Project in Dublin, Ireland.

1972

Dr. White is promoted to associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

1974

Dr. White joins the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin.

1976

Dr. White becomes an associate professor at the University of California, Irvine.

1979

Dr. White earns the title of Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Irvine.

1981

Dr. White becomes a fellow of the Center for Advanced Studies at the Western Behavioral Science Institute in La Jolla, California.

1986

Dr. White is appointed president of Linkages: World Development Research Council in Maryland.

1990

Dr. White authors “Reliability in Comparative and Ethnographic Observations: The Example of High Inference Father-Child Interaction Measures,” publishes the Journal of Quantitative Anthropology.

1999

Dr. White serves as a visiting professor at Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, France.

2000

Dr. White serves as a visiting professor at Institut National d’Etudes Demographique in France.

2002

Dr. White authors “A Student’s Guide to Statistics for Analysis of Cross-Tabulations,” published in the World Cultures Journal.

2017
