Ms. Parks is born in Miami, Florida to Jack Moore and Anne Moore.

1956

Ms. Parks studies at Florida State University.

1960

Ms. Parks receives a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida and becomes a teacher at Rollingcrest Junior High School in West Hyattsville, Maryland.

1963

Ms. Parks becomes a teacher at Miami Edison Senior High School.

1964

Ms. Parks serves as a graduate assistant at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.

1965

Ms. Parks becomes a teacher at Everglades School for Girls (now Ransom Everglades School) in Miami, Florida.

1970

Ms. Parks serves as a freelance research historian in Miami.

1971

Ms. Parks receives a Master of Arts in history from the University of Miami.

1977

Ms. Parks authors “The Forgotten Frontier: Florida through the Lens of Ralph Middleton Munroe.”

1981

Ms. Parks authors “Miami the Magic City.”

1986

Ms. Parks becomes an adjunct professor at the University of Miami.

1986

Ms. Parks is appointed president of Arva Parks & Co. in Miami.

1991

Ms. Parks is appointed president of Centennial Press.

1991

Ms. Parks authors “Harry Truman and the Little White House in Key West.”

1992

Ms. Parks authors “Miami: Then and Now.”

1996

Ms. Parks is presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws from Barry University.

2001

Ms. Parks authors “The Pathway to Greatness.”

2003

Ms. Parks is appointed president of the Florida chapter of the International Women’s Forum.

Ms. Parks is appointed acting director and chief curator of the Coral Gables Museum.

Ms. Parks is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
