Dr. Fahn is born in Sacramento, California to Ernest and Sylva Fahn.
1955
Dr. Fahn receives a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkeley.
1957
Dr. Fahn becomes a fellow in a cellular physiology course at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
1958
Dr. Fahn receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California and becomes a rotating intern at Philadelphia General Hospital.
1959
Dr. Fahn becomes a resident in neurology at The Neurological Institute of New York.
1962
Dr. Fahn becomes a research associate at the National Institutes of Health.
1965
Dr. Fahn becomes a faculty member at Columbia University.
1968
Dr. Fahn is certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. and becomes a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania.
1973
Dr. Fahn becomes a full professor of neurology at Columbia University and an attending neurologist at New York-Presbyterian.
1978
Dr. Fahn is named an H. Houston Merritt professor at Columbia University.
1979
Dr. Fahn is appointed director of the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, Inc.
1981
Dr. Fahn is appointed director of the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation.
1985
Dr. Fahn becomes editor of “Movement Disorders.”
1987
Dr. Fahn becomes chairman of the advisory committee on peripheral and nervous system drugs for the Food and Drug Administration.
1999
Dr. Fahn is appointed director of the Morris K. Udall Parkinson Disease Research Center at Columbia University.
2001
Dr. Fahn is appointed president of the American Academy of Neurology.
2006
Dr. Fahn becomes the organizer and chairman of the World Parkinson Coalition.
2007
Dr. Fahn co-authors “Principles and Practice of Movement Disorders, First Edition” and is awarded the James Parkinson Medal from the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
2011
Dr. Fahn co-authors “Principles and Practice of Movement Disorders, Second Edition.”
2017
Dr. Fahn is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
