Earns an Associate of Arts in history from Foothill Community College, with honors.
1980
Receives a Bachelor of Arts in political science and government from the University of San Francisco, cum laude.
1983
Attains a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Santa Clara University School of Law; Is admitted to practice law in California and the federal courts.
1984
Is a deputy DA and active with several units as a member and supervisor at the Santa Clara County Office of the District Attorney until 2021.
1987
Is an instructor on the Fourth Amendment for the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) Bureau of Investigation until 2014.
1988
Is the author of numerous legal texts on the Fourth Amendment, many of which are published through the CDAA through today.
1989
Receives a Commendation Letter from both the Burglary Prevention Unit and the Narcotics Unit at the SJPD.
1990
Is recognized as the Santa Clara County Employee of the Month.
1992
Is an instructor on the Fourth Amendment for the Los Gatos Police Department until 2001; Receives an Excellence Award from the SJPD.
1995
Is an editor for “High-Technology Crime” via KSK Publications.
2006
Is an instructor for the CDAA on various Fourth Amendment issues through today.
2007
Is an instructor on search warrant law at the Robert Presley Institute of Criminal Investigation until February, 2023.
2009
Is the CDAA Author of the Year.
2011
Is certified as a level two instructor in Peace Officer Standards & Training.
2012
Is a guest lecturer on Fourth Amendment Law at the Stanford University Citizens Academy.
2014
Authors a book titled “Warrantless Searches, a Guide for Police-Citizen Contacts, Cell Phones and Exclusions.”

Is the Prosecutor of the Year for Region One of the California Narcotic Officers’ Association.
2021
Commences his retirement; Receives the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
