Dr. Valanis is born in Lefkara, Cyprus to Christakis and Panayota Valanis.

1955

Dr. Valanis receives a Bachelor of Science with honors from Imperial College London.

1957

Dr. Valanis receives a Master of Science from Imperial College London.

1961

Dr. Valanis immigrates to the United States.

1963

Dr. Valanis receives a Doctor of Philosophy from Purdue University.

1964

Dr. Valanis becomes a professor at Iowa State University.

1966

Dr. Valanis becomes an affiliate of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.

1968

Dr. Valanis becomes a professor and is appointed head of The University of Iowa.

1969

Dr. Valanis receives a research grant from the Air Force Research Laboratory.

1976

Dr. Valanis becomes a consultant for Maxwell Technologies, Inc. in La Jolla, California.
