Dr. Sellman is born in Texarkana, Texas to Albert Clay and Irene Lois Sellman.

1962

Dr. Sellman receives a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and history from Texas A&M University and is commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

1963

Dr. Sellman marries Elaine Elizabeth Seedle.

1963

Dr. Sellman receives a Master of Education in counseling psychology from Texas A&M University.

1963

Dr. Sellman serves as an operational psychologist with the Air Force 3320th Retraining Group.

1968

Dr. Sellman receives a Doctor of Philosophy in industrial and organizational psychology from Purdue University.

1968

Dr. Sellman serves as research psychologist with the Air Force Human Resources Lab.

1968

Dr. Sellman becomes a lecturer at St. Mary’s University and Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio, Texas.

1970

Dr. Sellman becomes a lecturer at the University of Colorado at Denver in Colorado.

1972

Dr. Sellman serves as an exchange officer with the Royal Australian Air Force in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

1974

Dr. Sellman serves as chief of Air Force Enlistment Testing and Entrance Standards at the U.S. Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C.

1974

Dr. Sellman advances through the grades to Major in the U.S. Air Force.

1980

Dr. Sellman leaves the U.S. Air Force to become a Department of Defense civilian.

1981

Dr. Sellman is appointed to the advisory committee of the National General Educational Development (GED) Program in Washington, D.C.

1984

Dr. Sellman becomes director of accession policy for the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C.

1986

Dr. Sellman receives a diploma in national and international security from Harvard University.

1989

Dr. Sellman is elected president of the Division of Military Psychology for the American Psychological Association.

1999

Dr. Sellman receives the Presidential Meritorious Executive Award.

2002

Dr. Sellman becomes vice president for strategic planning for the Human Resources Research Organization in Alexandria, Virginia. He also receives the Defense Civilian Distinguished Service Award.

2015

Dr. Sellman retires from his profession.
