1962

Mr. Alter receives a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College.

1965

Mr. Alter receives a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Cornell Law School and is admitted to practice in the state of New York.

1971

Mr. Alter becomes a Partner and is the Founder and Chair of the Real Estate Department of Kronish, Lieb, Weiner & Hellman (Now Cooley, LLP).

1972

Mr. Alter becomes the Chair of Young Leadership Division of UJA-Federation of New York.

1973

Mr. Alter becomes a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Real Property Section of the American Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

1974

Mr. Alter becomes a Director of the New York Association for New Americans, Inc. (NYANA); the largest refugee resettlement organization in New York.

1975

Mr. Alter receives the International Award for Young Leadership from the Council of Jewish Federations of the United States and Canada at its general assembly.

1976

Mr. Alter becomes President of NYANA.

1978

Mr. Alter becomes a member of the Executive Committee of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

1980

Mr. Alter becomes member of the Committee on New Developments in Real Estate Law and Practice of the American Bar Association.

1983

Mr. Alter becomes a Trustee of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society (HIAS).

1984

Mr. Alter serves as a lecturer at The Real Estate Institute (now the Schack Institute of Real Estate) of New York University and becomes a member of ALTA.

1988

Mr. Alter is the Founder and Chair of the Real Estate Specialists of the Lawyers Division of UJA-Federation of New York.

1989

Mr. Alter becomes a Partner and Co-head of the Real Estate Department of Jones Day LLP of New York.

1990

Mr. Alter is the Guest of Honor at the Inaugural Dinner of the Real Estate Specialists of the Lawyers Division of UJA-Federation of New York.

1994

Mr. Alter is appointed Initial Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Traurig, LLP in New York City and becomes the Founder of the Real Estate Department of the New York Office at Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

2000

Mr. Alter becomes a Trustee and Member of the Executive Committee of the Citizens Budget Commission, Inc.

2004

Mr. Alter serves as General Counsel for Citizens Budget Commission, Inc.

2004

Mr. Alter becomes a member of the Competitiveness Committee and the Education Finance Committee of Citizens Budget Commission, Inc., as well as the Regional Board of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) in New York.

2015

Mr. Alter enters into a career in real estate consulting.
