Dr. Currey is born in Itawamba County, Mississippi to Charles Edward and Anna L. Currey.

1955

Dr. Currey receives a Bachelor of Science from the University of Mississippi on a pre-med course.

1958

Dr. Currey receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee.

1958

Dr. Currey begins an internship at John Gaston Hospital of the University of Tennessee.

1959

Dr. Currey marries Carol Ann Clabough.

1959

Dr. Currey works at John A. Murphy Clinic.

1962

Dr. Currey becomes a resident in ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee.

1965

Dr. Currey becomes an ophthalmologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

1965

Dr. Currey becomes an assistant clinical instructor of ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee.

1970

Dr. Currey becomes president of the medical staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

1985

Dr. Currey becomes president of the medical staff at St. Francis Hospital.

1987

Dr. Currey serves as vice president of the Tennessee Medical Association.

1990

Dr. Currey becomes an associate instructor of ophthalmology in the Department of Family Practice.
