1940

Mr. Brooks is born to parents, Philip Coolidge and Dorothy Hamilton Brooks.

1962

Mr. Brooks receives a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas.

1962

Mr. Brooks studies at the University of Reading in England as an exchange fellow.

1963

Mr. Brooks studies postgraduate courses at Stanford University Law School.

1964

Mr. Brooks studies postgraduate courses at the University of Reading.

1965

Mr. Brooks marries Susan Mary Fox.

1966

Mr. Brooks receives a Master of Arts from the University of Kansas.

1967

Mr. Brooks becomes a museum specialist in political history at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.

1968

Mr. Brooks serves as a historian archivist for the President Inaugural Committee. He also serves in the position in 1989 and 1993.

1971

Mr. Brooks becomes assistant to executive director of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C.

1974

Mr. Brooks becomes assistant to assistant archivist of Public Programs and curator of the Archives Reception Room of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1976

Mr. Brooks receives the Commendable Service Award from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1979

Mr. Brooks becomes acting director and director of the Education Division of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1983

Mr. Brooks becomes senior archives specialist in the Records Center of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1986

Mr. Brooks becomes a development officer for the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1996

Mr. Brooks retires from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

1997

Mr. Brooks joins the Derby Bentley Society.

2000

Mr. Brooks receives the Virginia Senate Joint Resolution of Commendation.

2007

Mr. Brooks joins the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.

2013

Mr. Brooks receives the Rolls-Royce Foundation Commendation.
