Dr. Kushner is born in Hackensack, New Jersey to Samuel and Ruth Ellen Kushner.

Dr. Kushner graduates cum laude with distinction from Yale University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in physics.
1976
Dr. Kushner marries Sarah Joan Warden.
1977
Dr. Kushner receives a Doctor of Medicine from New York University and begins a medical internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
1978
Dr. Kushner begins a residency in neurology at the Neurological Institute of the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, New York.
1981
Dr. Kushner becomes a research associate at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kushner becomes an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and serves as an attending physician at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kushner serves as an interviewer for the Alumni Schools Committee at Yale University.
