1928

Dr. Howard is born in Seattle, Washington to Walter J. and Anita S. Howard.

1945

Dr. Howard receives a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana.

1952

Dr. Howard marries Elaine Ungherini.

1956

Dr. Howard receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Minnesota and becomes assistant director of the Georgia Crime Laboratory of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations in Atlanta, Georgia.

1971

Dr. Howard is promoted to director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigations in Decatur, Georgia.

1973

Dr. Howard receives American Bicentennial Research Institute Award in recognition of professional and civil attainment.

1974

Dr. Howard is appointed president of the Southern Association of Forensic Sciences.

1976

Dr. Howard is appointed chairman of the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors.

1978

Dr. Howard is appointed president of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences.

1980

Dr. Howard serves as the editor of the Journal on Forensic Sciences.

1981

Dr. Howard serves as the editor of the American Journal of Legal Medicine and Pathology.

1981

Dr. Howard is named Man of the Year by the District Attorney’s Association of Georgia.

1988

Dr. Howard receives a Bachelor of Sciences in geology from the Georgia State University and becomes a forensic scientist at the Montana Crime Laboratory in Missoula, Montana.

1988

Dr. Howard receives the Accommodation Resolution Award from the Police Officers’ of the State of Georgia and the Retirement Award from the Georgia Coroner’s Association. He also celebrates 32 Years of Exemplary Leadership for Scientific Excellence, Professional Integrity, and Personal Dedication with the Georgia State Crime Laboratory.

1990

Dr. Howard becomes manager of the City County Crime Laboratory of the Colorado Springs Police Department in Colorado.

1995

Dr. Howard becomes a private practice forensic science consultant in Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as a charter member of the Society of Forensic Toxicologists, Inc.

1995

Dr. Howard receives Grateful Appreciation for Dedication to Design and Implementation from the Colorado Springs Metro Crime Laboratory.
