1939

Dr. Wilson is born in Reading, Pennsylvania to Robert Fitzpatrick and Eugenia Wilson.

1961

Dr. Wilson receives a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and later serves as a graduate assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

1962

Dr. Wilson becomes a fellow of the National Institutes of Health at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

1965

Dr. Wilson receives a Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

1965

Dr. Wilson becomes a postdoctoral fellow of Harvard University.

1967

Dr. Wilson marries Antonia Gigliello and becomes an assistant professor of chemistry at the University of Cincinnati.

1972

Dr. Wilson is promoted to associate professor of chemistry and becomes a summer faculty fellow of the University of Cincinnati.

1974

Dr. Wilson becomes a visiting professor of chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

1976

Dr. Wilson is promoted to full professor of chemistry at the University of Cincinnati.

1982

Dr. Wilson receives a senior scientist fellowship from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and serves as a visiting professor of chemistry at the Julius Maximilian University of Wurzburg in Germany.

1987

Dr. Wilson becomes an adjunct professor in the Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University.

1988

Dr. Wilson becomes a fellow of the graduate school at the University of Cincinnati.

1990

Dr. Wilson serves as a visiting professor of chemistry at The Ohio State University.

1995

Dr. Wilson becomes a Distinguished Research Professor at the University of Cincinnati.

1997

Dr. Wilson serves as acting head of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati.

1998

Dr. Wilson is appointed head of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cincinnati.

2005

Dr. Wilson earns the title Professor Emeritus at the University of Cincinnati, as well as Distinguished Research Professor at Bowling Green State University.

2013

Dr. Wilson serves as the interim director of the Center for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University.

2017

Dr. Wilson is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

2018

Dr. Wilson receives the 2018 Inter-American Photochemical Society Fellow Award for his outstanding lifetime contribution to the advancement of the photochemical and photophysical sciences and service to the Inter-American Photochemical Society as a whole.
