Dr. French is born in Knoxville, Tennessee to Junius Butler and Irene Rankin French.
1959
Dr. French receives a Bachelor of Music from the University of Tennessee.
1962
Dr. French receives a Master of Science from the University of Tennessee.
1962
Dr. French becomes a music teacher for the Kingsport Symphony Association (now Symphony of the Mountains) in Tennessee.
1964
Dr. French becomes a music teacher for Birmingham Schools in Alabama.
1964
Dr. French becomes a member of the First Violin Section of the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
1969
Dr. French becomes a NASA trainee in biology at the University of Mississippi.
1970
Dr. French becomes a member of the First Violin Section of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra.
1973
Dr. French receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Mississippi, and becomes an assistant professor at Mobile College (now the University of Mobile) in Alabama.
1974
Dr. French becomes a member of the First Violin Section of the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.
1977
Dr. French becomes a member of the First Violin Sections of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra.
1983
Dr. French is promoted to associate professor at Mobile College.
1983
Dr. French serves as an orchestra contractor for the American Federation of Musicians.
1985
Dr. French is named Career Woman of the Year by Gayfer’s Inc.
1994
Dr. French is promoted to full professor at Mobile College.
2005
Dr. French is appointed to the Mobile Symphony Players Committee.
2008
Dr. French retires as professor of biology.
2012
Dr. French retires from the Mobile Symphony Orchestra.
2017
Dr. French is honored with Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
