Dr. Rose is born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Elmer Johnson and Dorothy Porter.

1963

Dr. Rose receives a Bachelor of Arts from Earlham College.

1963

Dr. Rose serves as staff assistant for Congressman Richard L. Roudebush.

1964

Dr. Rose becomes assistant dean of George School.

1966

Dr. Rose becomes assistant director of admissions at Mount Holyoke College.

1970

Dr. Rose receives a Master of Arts from Indiana State University.

1971

Dr. Rose serves as assistant director of correspondence for First Lady Pat Nixon.

1972

Dr. Rose is appointed Head of Scheduling and Projects for First Lady Pat Nixon.

1974

Dr. Rose becomes Head of Scheduling and Projects for First Lady Betty Ford.

1977

Dr. Rose becomes special assistant to the Assistant Attorney General of the Office for Improvements in the Administration of Justice in the U.S. Department of Justice.

1980

Dr. Rose marries Johnathan Chapman Rose.

1981

Dr. Rose becomes Chief of Staff for Barbara Bush and assistant to the Vice President, George H.W. Bush.

1989

Dr. Rose becomes deputy assistant to the President, George H.W. Bush.

1991

Dr. Rose receives the Distinguished Alumni Award from Indiana State University.

1992

Dr. Rose receives the Distinguished Alumni Award from Earlham College.

1993

Dr. Rose becomes commissioner of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts.

2002

Dr. Rose receives an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.

2017

Dr. Rose is named a Distinguished Humanitarian by Marquis Who’s Who.
