Dr. Perlman was born in Brooklyn, New York to Harold Wallace Perlman and Jane Perlman.
1961
Dr. Perlman received a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the City College of New York and began his career as a member of the technical staff in the Communications Laboratory of RCA in New York City, New York.
1964
Dr. Perlman received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of New York (now the New York University Tandon School of Engineering).
1968
Dr. Perlman moved to the RCA Laboratories in Princeton, New Jersey.
1973
Dr. Perlman received a Doctor of Philosophy in eletrophysics from the Polytechnic Institute of New York.
1979
Dr. Perlman married Carolyn Amelia Francis.
1981
Dr. Perlman was promoted to manager of the Microwave Research Laboratory at RCA Laboratories.
1986
Dr. Perlman was promoted to head of design automation research at RCA Laboratories.
1988
Dr. Perlman was appointed chief of the Microwave Photonic Devices Branch in the Electronics and Power Source Directorate of the Army Research Laboratory in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
1992
Dr. Perlman served on the editorial board of the Wiley Journal.
1995
Dr. Perlman became director of the Electronics Division in the Physical Sciences Directorate of the Army Research Laboratory.
1996
Dr. Perlman was promoted to chief of the RF and Electronics Division in the Sensor and Electron Devices Directorate of the Army Research Laboratory.
1997
Dr. Perlman joined the R&D Engineering Center staff of Communications-Electronics Command.
1998
Dr. Perlman was promoted to chief of applied communication at Communications-Electronics Command.
1999
Dr. Perlman became associate director for technology and principal scientist for the Intel and Info Directorate.
2002
Dr. Perlman became associate director of technology in the Office of Communications Electronics Research of the Development and Engineering Center Headquarters.
2009
Dr. Perlman served as president of the Society Administrative Committee (ADCOM) of the IEEE.
2011
Dr. Perlman joined the R&D Engineering Center staff in Aberdeen, New Jersey.
2012
Dr. Perlman received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the IEEE.
