Dr. Meisel is born in Fairmont, West Virginia to Louis D. and Dorothy Meisel.

1961

Dr. Meisel receives a Bachelor of Science in physics from West Virginia University.

1963

Dr. Meisel receives a Master of Science in astronomy from The Ohio State University.

1965

Dr. Meisel receives a sub-grant from the University of Virginia under the NASA award.

1967

Dr. Meisel receives a Doctor of Philosophy in astronomy from The Ohio State University.

1968

Dr. Meisel becomes an assistant professor at the University of Virginia.

1970

Dr. Meisel becomes an assistant professor at the State University of New York Geneseo.

1972

Dr. Meisel becomes executive director of the American Meteor Society, Ltd.

1973

Dr. Meisel becomes an associate at the C.E.K. Mees Observatory at the University of Rochester.

1976

Dr. Meisel receives a grant from the National Science Foundation.

1976

Dr. Meisel is promoted to associate professor at the State University of New York Geneseo.

1977

Dr. Meisel becomes a senior associate at the Goddard Space Flight Center of NASA in Greenbelt, Maryland.

1983

Dr. Meisel becomes a full professor at the State University of New York Geneseo.

1988

Dr. Meisel becomes associate director of the C.E.K. Mees Observatory at the University of Rochester.

2001

Dr. Meisel becomes a Distinguished Professor at the State University of New York Geneseo.

2005

Dr. Meisel becomes a SUNY Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the State University of New York Geneseo.

2013
