Is born to parents David Amnon and Martha Fried.

1968

Graduates from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and public speaking.

1984

Earns a Master of Science in bilingual cross-cultural education from Pepperdine University.

1997

Is named Teacher of the Year by the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE).

1998

Is named Teacher of the Year by the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE).

1999

Works as a summer volunteer for a K-8 Mayan and Spanish reading literacy program in Mexico through today.

2013

Is selected by students for the Sierra Vista High School Outstanding Educator Award seven times, through 2019.

2015

Earns a Certificate of Completion in Applying the Quality Matters Rubric from Loyola Marymount University.

2016

Wins the Corazon Award from CABE.

2017

Is honored as the Sierra Vista High School Teacher of the Year.

2017

Is a presenter at Baldwin Park Unified School District’s Annual College Fair until 2019.

2018

Is the keynote speaker at the Migrant Youth Summit at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

2020

Receives an Alt-Instruction Certificate from California State University, Los Angeles.

Is honored as the co-recipient of the 2019-2020 Cesar E. Chavez Memorial Education Awards Program.

2021

Is featured in The Daily Journal, Mohanraj, and the San Francisco Examiner.

Completes technology training with Elaine Coates at Loyola Marymount University.

Is honored as the namesake of Sierra Vista High School’s Charlene Fried Library.

Is nominated as Woman of the Year and Educator of the Year by the California State Senator Susan Rubio.
