Earns a Doctor of Philosophy in botany from Indiana University.

Teaches as an assistant professor of botany at California State University, Fullerton, through 1973.

Is the director of the Fay A. MacFadden Herbarium at California State University, Fullerton, through 2010.

Is the founding director of the Fullerton Arboretum at California State University, Fullerton.
