1936

Dr. Prescott is born in New York City, New York to Gerard and Eleanor Lake.

1957

Dr. Prescott marries Peter Sherwin Prescott.

1959

Dr. Prescott receives a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College.

1961

Dr. Prescott receives a Master of Arts from Columbia University and begins her career as an instructor of English at Barnard College.

1967

Dr. Prescott receives a Doctor of Philosophy from Columbia University. She is also promoted to assistant professor at Barnard College.

1968

Dr. Prescott is appointed vice president of the New Canaan Caucus of the Connecticut Democrats.

1973

Dr. Prescott is promoted to associate professor at Barnard College.

1978

Dr. Prescott authors “French Poets and the English Renaissance.”

1980

Dr. Prescott is promoted to full professor at Barnard College.

1985

Dr. Prescott becomes a member of the Environmental Commission of New Canaan.

1986

Dr. Prescott is appointed president of the Spenser Society.

1988

Dr. Prescott is appointed chairman of the English Department at Barnard College.

1998

Dr. Prescott authors “Imagining Rabelais in the English Renaissance.”

2007

Dr. Prescott receives the Colin Clout Award from the Spenser Society.

2010

Dr. Prescott is appointed vice president of the John Donne Society.

2012

Dr. Prescott becomes a part-time English language educator at Barnard College.

2017

Dr. Prescott is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
