Dr. Singer is born in St. Louis, Missouri to Meyer and Lee Singer.
1956
Dr. Singer studies at the University of California as a California State Scholar.
1960
Dr. Singer receives a Bachelor of Science from the University of California in Berkeley, California.
1963
Dr. Singer receives a Doctor of Medicine from the University of California in San Francisco, California and begins a medical internship at a UCLA affiliated hospital.
1964
Dr. Singer marries Sandra Joy Singer and becomes a resident at the VA hospital in Los Angeles.
1965
Dr. Singer becomes a captain in the U.S. Air Force.
1971
Dr. Singer becomes an instructor in medicine at Harvard University and serves as a clinical investigator at the VA hospital.
1972
Dr. Singer becomes an assistant professor of medicine at the University of California.
1973
Dr. Singer becomes an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Southern California.
1974
Dr. Singer is promoted to associate professor at the University of Southern California.
1977
Dr. Singer authors “Paget’s Disease of Bone.”
1978
Dr. Singer is promoted to full professor at the University of Southern California.
1980
Dr. Singer becomes a professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Southern California.
1984
Dr. Singer is appointed vice chairman of the community advisory committee at University High School.
1989
Dr. Singer becomes the director of the Bone Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
1990
Dr. Singer receives the John Johnson Award from The Paget Foundation and serves as the president of the American Society of Bone and Mineral Research.
1992
Dr. Singer becomes a clinical professor of medicine at the David Geffen School Medicine at the University of California. He also serves as the director of the Skeletal Biology Lab at the John Wayne Cancer Institute and as the director of the osteoporosis/metabolic bone disease program at St. John’s Hospital and Health Center.
2008
Dr. Singer receives the Constellation Award from the Fibrous Dysplasia Foundation.
2014
Dr. Singer receives the William H. Oldendorf Lifetime Achievement Award from the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center.
2017
Dr. Singer serves on the board of trustees of the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
