Attains a Master of Arts in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Is a cataloger at James Madison University (JMU) until 1976; Is an instructor at JMU until 1980.

1975

Serves on the faculty senate of JMU until 1979.

1976

Is a reference librarian at JMU until 1987.

1977

Serves on the editorial board of James Madison Journal until 1980.

1978

Undertakes postgraduate coursework in business administration at JMU until 1979.

1980

Is a professor at JMU until 2010.

1983

Joins the Virginia chapter of the Special Librarians Association, for which he becomes treasurer and president.

1984

Is the chairman of the business reference services committee for the American Library Association until 1986.
