1957

Receives a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.

1961

Earns a Certificate of Completion in advanced dentistry from U.S. Army Institute of Dental Research at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

1963

Completes the Army Medical Department Officers Career Course at the Medical Field Service School of Brooke Army Medical Center.

1969

Receives a Certificate in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Baylor College of Dentistry.

1975

Receives Specialty Board Certification by the American Board of Periodontology.

1980

Becomes licensed in the state of Oregon.

1984

Becomes a professor of periodontics at the Stomatology Center of the Texas A&M College of Dentistry.

1985

Receives Specialty Board Certification by the American Board of Oral Medicine.

1985

Receives the Geriatric Dental Health Award from the American Dental Association.

1987

Becomes Extraordinary Professor of Graduate Periodontics at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico.

1991

Serves as chair of the Southwest Society of Periodontists.

2001

Becomes a fellow of the American Academy of Periodontology and receives the Gies Award from the American Dental Association.

2002

Serves as chair of the American Board of Periodontology.

2005

Named Distinguished Periodontal Alumnus by Baylor College of Dentistry.

2006

Serves as a consultant for the American Board of Dental Examiners.

2010

Becomes a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation.

2013

Receives the Outstanding Periodontal Educator Award from the American Academy of Periodontology.

2016

Serves as host of the International Pemphigus/Pemphigold Foundation Annual Session in Austin, Texas.

2017

Becomes Professor Emeritus of Periodontics at Texas A&M Health Science Center.

2018

The Terry Rees Endowed Chair in Stomatology is established by Texas A & M University and the College of Dentistry.
