Born in Bryan, Texas to Bessie Lanton Sharp and Homer Lloyd Heaton.

1957

Receives a Bachelor of Science from Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University.

1961

Receives a Doctor of Medicine from Baylor University.

1961

Becomes an intern at Jefferson Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas.

1962

Becomes a resident at Baylor University.

1965

Becomes a senior attending physician at Philadelphia General Hospital.

1965

Serves to lieutenant commander with the U.S. Public Health Service.

1966

Becomes a member of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

1970

Appointed chief of service at Philadelphia General Hospital.

1972

Authors “Audiovisual Course in Venereal Disease” with D.M. Pillsbury.

1973

Receives an honorary Master of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.

1973

Becomes an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania.
