Dr. Nowierski is born in Boise, Idaho to Leon W. and Mary Ellen Nowierski.

1973

Dr. Nowierski graduates cum laude from the University of Idaho, receiving a Bachelor of Science in pre-dentistry.

1973

Dr. Nowierski becomes a research assistant in the Department of Entomology at the University of Idaho.

1975

Dr. Nowierski marries Kathy Diane Johnson.

1975

Dr. Nowierski receives a Master of Science in entomology and systematics from the University of Idaho and becomes a research assistant in the Department of Entomology at the University of California Berkeley.

1975

Dr. Nowierski receives the H.C. Manis Award for Excellence in Entomological Research in the Department of Entomology from the University of Idaho.

1979

Dr. Nowierski receives a Doctor of Philosophy in entomology, biological control, insect ecology and integrated pest management from the University of California Berkeley.

1979

Dr. Nowierski studies postdoctoral research at the University of California Berkeley.

1980

Dr. Nowierski becomes an IPM Systems Analyst at the University of California Berkeley.

1980

Dr. Nowierski is an invited professor at the International Congress of Entomology in Japan.

1982

Dr. Nowierski joins the faculty at Montana State University, serving as assistant, associate and full professor over the next 20 years.

1982

Dr. Nowierski is an invited lecturer at the International Course on Biological Control in Berkeley, California.

1983

Dr. Nowierski receives the DuPont Grant in Aid for Teaching.

1984

Dr. Nowierski is a keynote speaker at the Leafy Spurge Symposium in Dickinson, North Dakota.

1993

Dr. Nowierski studies at the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program Workshop.

2000

Dr. Nowierski joins the editorial board of Biological Control: Theory and Application in Pest Management.

2002

Dr. Nowierski becomes a National Program Leader for bio-based pest management for the USDA and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) in Washington, D.C.

2012

Dr. Nowierski studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.
