1945

Dr. Eaton is born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Charles Barker and Dorothy Helen Eaton.

1969

Dr. Eaton receives a Master of Science in marine biology from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography at the University of California.

1971

Dr. Eaton receives a Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience from the University of California.

1973

Dr. Eaton becomes an assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

1974

Dr. Eaton serves in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as an airborne medical technician.

1978

Dr. Eaton becomes is promoted to associate professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

1985

Dr. Eaton becomes a full professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

1986

Dr. Eaton becomes a professor in the Department of Physiology at the Emory School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

1987

Dr. Eaton is appointed deputy chair of the Department of Physiology at the Emory School of Medicine.

1995

Dr. Eaton becomes director and investigator for the Research Center for Cell and Molecular Signaling at the Emory School of Medicine.

1996

Dr. Eaton is appointed director of Graduate Studies in Cell and Developmental Biology at the Emory University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.

2001

Dr. Eaton receives a Merit Award from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.

2002

Dr. Eaton becomes a Distinguished Professor in Department of Physiology at the Emory School of Medicine.

2005

Dr. Eaton is appointed director of Fellowships in Research and Science Teaching (FIRST) program at the Emory University Medical School.

2008

Dr. Eaton is appointed chair of the Department of Physiology at the Emory School of Medicine.

2009

Dr. Eaton becomes editor of Frontiers in Physiology: Renal and Epithelial Physiology.

2012

Dr. Eaton receives the Robert W. Berliner Award for Excellence in Renal Physiology from the American Physiological Society.

2016

Dr. Eaton becomes a fellow of the American Physiological Society.

2018

Dr. Eaton becomes a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Medicine and Emeritus Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Emory School of Medicine.
