Dr. Kaminsky is born in Koenigsberg, Germany to Stephan and Kaethe Kaminsky.
1950
Dr. Kaminsky becomes a fellow of the German Research Society and a graduate assistant in physics at the University of Rostock in Germany.
1951
Dr. Kaminsky receives a first diploma in physics at the University of Rostock.
1952
Dr. Kaminsky becomes a lecturer at University Medicine Rostock.
1953
Dr. Kaminsky becomes research assistant at the Physical Institute at Philipps University of Marburg in Germany.
1957
Dr. Kaminsky graduates magna cum laude from Philipps University of Marburg, with a Doctor of Philosophy in physics.
1957
Dr. Kaminsky becomes a senior assistant at the Physical Institute at Philipps University of Marburg.
1958
Dr. Kaminsky immigrates to the United States and becomes a research associate at the Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.
1959
Dr. Kaminsky spends 28 years at the Argonne National Laboratory, serving in various positions such as senior physicist, director of the Surface Science Center-CTR Program, and director of the Tribology Program.
1965
Dr. Kaminsky authors “Atomic and Ionic Impact Phenomena on Metal Surfaces.”
1968
Dr. Kaminsky is named The Outstanding New Citizen of the Year from the Citizenship Council of Chicago.
1976
Dr. Kaminsky becomes a guest professor at the Institute for Energy.
1978
Dr. Kaminsky becomes an E.W. Mueller lecturer at the University of Wisconsin.
1985
Dr. Kaminsky serves as symposium chairman of the International Conference on Metallurgical Coatings.
1986
Mr. Kaminsky becomes sole proprietor of Surface Treatment Science International in Hinsdale, Illinois.
1986
Dr. Kaminsky becomes a consultant and joins the National Research Council Committee on Tribology for the Office of Technology Assessment of the United States Congress.
2017
Dr. Kaminsky is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
