Dr. Rob Moir is born in Romulus, New York, a town in Seneca County. Assigned by a clerk with an affinity for Greek and Roman literature, Romulus is named for the mythical founder of Rome.

Dr. Moir attends Cambridge School of Weston in Weston, Massachusetts, where he earns a diploma.
1976
Dr. Moir is presented with the Rockefeller Brothers Award for the development of a college course on cetacean biology, ecology, and conservation.
1977
Dr. Moir achieves a Bachelor of Arts in natural sciences from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.
1979
Dr. Moir earns an MST in science teaching and environmental management from Antioch University New England.

Dr. Moir earns a certification in ecology from The Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
1984
Dr. Moir earns the position of curator of natural history at the Peabody Essex Museum.

Dr. Moir becomes the director of the National Marine Educators Association.

Dr. Moir assumes the position of president of Save the Harbor/Save the Bay in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Moir takes on the position of partner of the advisory council for Boston Harbor Island NPS Partnership.

Dr. Moir becomes president of the National Marine Educators Association.

Dr. Moir earns a PhD in environmental studies from Antioch University New England.
