Dr. Brown is born in Fergus Falls, Minnesota to David E. and Sara Evelyn Nordholm.

Dr. Brown studies at the University of Beirut in Lebanon.

Dr. Brown marries Dudley J. Brown.

Dr. Brown receives a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from St. Olaf College.

Dr. Brown receives a Master of Social Work from Columbia University.

Dr. Brown becomes a medical social worker at St. Luke’s Hospital (now Mount Sinai St. Luke’s) in New York City, New York.

Dr. Brown serves as an instructor at Mbereshi Secondary School in Zambia.

Dr. Brown serves as an instructor at the University of Benghazi in Lybia.
1978
Dr. Brown becomes a teaching associate at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
1980
Dr. Brown is promoted to assistant professor at Oklahoma State University.
1981
Dr. Brown becomes a full professor at Northwestern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
1982
Dr. Brown receives a Doctor of Philosophy in family relations and child development from Oklahoma State University.

Dr. Brown becomes a department chairman at Northwestern State University.

Dr. Brown becomes a founding member of the Child Abuse Prevention Task Force in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

Dr. Brown receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Social Workers.
