Dr. Brown receives a Bachelor of Science from Colgate University (Phi Beta Kappa).
1975
Dr. Brown receives a Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center (now SUNY Upstate Medical University) (Alpha Omega Alpha) in Syracuse, New York.
1976
Dr. Brown begins an ophthalmology residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He becomes Chief Resident in 1978.
1979
Dr. Brown becomes a vitreoretinal Fellow of Wills Eye Hospital.
1981
Dr. Brown becomes a physician at Mid Atlantic Retina in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania.
1984
Dr. Brown receives the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
1985
Dr. Brown is appointed president of the Ophthalmologic Club of Philadelphia.
1994
Dr. Brown is appointed president and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pennsylvania Physician Health Plan, Inc. in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He also receives the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
1996
Dr. Brown is named one of Castle Connolly’s America’s Best Doctors for 20 consecutive years through 2015.
1998
Dr. Brown receives a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from St. Joseph’s University, and is appointed president of the Pennsylvania Academy of Ophthalmology.
2002
Dr. Brown is appointed Chief Medical Officer and Director of Pharmacoeconomics at the Center Value Based Medicine.
2002
Dr. Brown originates and trademarks the term “value-based medicine.”
2003
Dr. Brown is appointed Chief of the Retina Service of Wills Eye Hospital. He is also named one of the Top Ophthalmologists in the U.S. for 14 consecutive years through 2016.
2009
Dr. Brown receives the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
2015
Dr. Brown receives the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the State University of New York Upstate Medical University.
2017
Dr. Brown is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.
2019
Dr. Brown has written four medical thriller novels: “Medical Justice,” “Blind Rage,” “An Eye for Justice,” and “STEM.”
