Dr. Kurtz is born in Albany, New York to Leonard and Esther Kurtz.

Dr. Kurtz receives a Bachelor of Arts from New York University.
1972
Dr. Kurtz receives a Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University and begins an internship in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center in Bronx, New York.
1973
Dr. Kurtz begins a residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center.
1974
Dr. Kurtz becomes a resident in diagnostic radiology at Montefiore Hospital and Medical Center. He is appointed chief resident two years later.
1977
Dr. Kurtz begins as a Fellow in ultrasound and body CT at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He eventually becomes a professor at the college.

Dr. Kurtz serves as a medical advisor for Blue Shield of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is also elected as a Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia.

Dr. Kurtz becomes a Professor of Radiology and Obstetrics-Gynecology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. Kurtz serves as an examiner of the Oral Boards in the ultrasound category for the American Board of Radiology. He served in this position until 2011.

Dr. Kurtz joins the advisory committee of the Center of Excellence in Biomedical Imaging in Philadelphia. He served in this position until 2000.

Dr. Kurtz authors “Obstetrical Measurements in Ultrasound: A Reference Manual.” He is also elected as a Fellow in the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Kurtz becomes vice chairman of the Department of Radiology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He serves in this position until 2002.
