Dr. Farrell is born in Sydney, Australia to Leslie Joseph Farrell and Thelma Marie Farrell.

Dr. Farrell receives a Bachelor of Engineering from The University of Sydney and becomes a research engineer for Union Carbide Corporation in Sydney, Australia.
1965
Dr. Farrell relocates to Montreal, Canada as a research engineer for Union Carbide Corporation.
1967
Dr. Farrell receives a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and becomes a research engineer for Chevron Corporation in San Francisco, California.
1968
Dr. Farrell becomes an industrial liaison officer for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
1971
Dr. Farrell receives a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Washington and becomes a research assistant professor at the University of Washington.
1972
Dr. Farrell becomes a professor and lecturer at University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney.
1981
Dr. Farrell receives a Doctor of Science from the UNSW Sydney.
1984
Dr. Farrell is appointed vice president of Baxter World Trade Corporation in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Farrell becomes a member of the executive committee of Baxter World Trade Corporation.

Dr. Farrell becomes managing director of Baxter Center for Medical Research in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Farrell founds ResMed in Sydney, where he serves as chairman and chief executive officer.
