Dr. Mazlen is born in Brooklyn, New York to Henry Gershwin and Ann Kurland Mazlen.
1956
Dr. Mazlen and associates award Thurgood Marshall for human rights efforts at his NAACP office.
1959
Dr. Mazlen receives a Bachelor of Science in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
1960
Dr. Mazlen marries Sandra Phyllis Kuritzky.
1963
Dr. Mazlen receives a Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and begins an internship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.
1964
Dr. Mazlen becomes a resident in medicine at Maimonides Medical Center.
1964
Dr. Mazlen works with Dr. Solomon Berson and Dr. Rosalyn Yalow, Nobel Laureate, at the Bronx VA Hospital.
1965
Dr. Mazlen becomes a research associate for the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, under the mentorship of Nobel Laureate Chris Anfinsen, Jr.
1967
Dr. Mazlen becomes resident in medical ophthalmology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
1967
Dr. Mazlen becomes a postdoctoral fellow at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital (now Brigham and Women’s Hospital) in Boston, Massachusetts.
1970
Dr. Mazlen is appointed associate medical director of Pfizer, Inc. in New York City.
1971
Dr. Mazlen joins the senior faculty and becomes assistant director of clinical research at Ayerst Laboratories in New York.
1972
Dr. Mazlen becomes a senior attending in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
1972
Dr. Mazlen founds and serves as chairman of the Queens County Common Cause in New York.
1976
After developing and conducting research studies, Dr. Mazlen receives FDA approval for Inderal, the first beta-blocker to be used in medicine in the U.S for the treatment of hyper tension.
1976
Dr. Mazlen is appointed chairman of the Council on Nutrition and Cardiovascular Diseases of the American College of Nutrition.
2017
Dr. Mazlen is honored with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis Who’s Who.

Dr. Mazlen receives the Top Doctor Award for Internal Medicine featured in New York Magazine.
