1940

Is born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to parents Walter Joseph and Pauline C. Smith.

1962

Graduates from Ursinus College with a Bachelor of Science.

1966

Earns a Doctor of Medicine from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University.

1966

Marries Coralynn Elder Smith and serves in the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps until 1967, attaining the rank of Captain.

1973

Completes a residency in general surgery at the University of Pennsylvania’s graduate hospital.

1974

Concludes his chief residency in general surgery at Geisinger Medical Center.

1976

Completes an additional residency in plastic surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at The Pennsylvania State University.

1976

Serves as a staff member at the Community General Hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania, and the St. Joseph Medical Center.

1981

Works in his eponymous private practice until 2004.

1983

Is the chief of the section of plastic surgery at the St. Joseph Medical Center until 1989.

1994

Is the chief of plastic surgery at Reading Hospital until 2000.

2008

Serves as division chief of the hyperbaric center and wound care at the Tower Health Reading Hospital Medical Center through today.

2016

Is the medical director of the Wound Care Center at Reading Hospital.

2017

Is honored with a 50 Year Achievement Award from the Berks County Medical Center.

2022

Works as an assistant professor of surgery for the Drexel University School of Medicine’s Tower Health Division through today.

2023

Maintains membership in the American Legion through today.
