1936

Mr. McDonald is born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Malcolm Blanchard and Ruth Virginia Stees McDonald.

1958

Mr. Donald graduates Phi Beta Kappa magna cum laude with high honors and high orations from Yale College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in politics and economic institution.

1960

Mr. McDonald receives a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.

1960

Mr. McDonald joins and later becomes vice president of First National Bank in St. Paul, Minnesota.

1975

Mr. McDonald becomes an adjunct professor of graduate programs in management at the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul.

1977

Mr. McDonald joins and later becomes director, senior vice president and trustee of Space Center, Inc. in St. Paul, Minnesota.

1980

Mr. McDonald becomes a member of the board of the Hill Monastic Manuscript Library at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

1982

Mr. McDonald becomes vice chair of the Investment Advisory Council of the Minnesota State Board of Investment in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is now an emeritus member.

1994

Mr. McDonald serves as president and board member of the Minnesota Taxpayers Association and the Minnesota Journal for Fiscal Excellence.

1999

Mr. McDonald becomes a member of the advisory board of Firstar Bank of Minnesota in St. Paul, Minnesota.

2002

Mr. McDonald joins the Board of Governors at the Minneapolis Club.

2004

Mr. McDonald joins the Board of Directors of HMN Financial, Inc. in Rochester, Minnesota.

2006

Mr. McDonald serves as chairman of the Minnesota State Fair Foundation. He is now an emeritus member.

2009

Mr. McDonald becomes vice president of the Grotto Foundation, having joined the board in 1961.

2011

Mr. McDonald becomes trustee emeritus of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation, having joined in 1971.

2012

Mr. McDonald becomes an emeritus director of the Minnesota Historical Society.
